Biography: Amy Walker
Amy
Walker got her start riding as a very young child in Middle Tennessee.
She could often be seen racing her pony around bareback down roads and
through trails until she was tamed by the Middle Tennessee Pony Club, where
she became a C-3 Graduate.

From her early teens she
competed in dressage, combined training, and show jumping, getting her
start in dressage with Garra Walline, an FEI student of Natalie Lamping,
and Linda Oliver. She cut back briefly on her riding to earn a BS in
Mathematics and a BA in French. She started her Masters in Mathematics but
never had time to ride! She then switched her focus to her true passion,
riding. By her early twenties she was competing exclusively in dressage
and clinicing often with Volker Brommann and Jan Brons until moving to Tami
Crawford’s facility, also in the Middle Tennessee area, working closely
with Tami and clinicing often with Shelly Francis. There she advanced
quickly, while seriously refining her FEI riding.

Amy moved to the Southern
California area in 2006 in order to further her dressage career and
training with renowned trainer and competitor, Laurie Doyle. Having earned
her bronze and silver medals, she is now working towards completing her
gold with her new grand prix horse Ricon.
Amy enjoys teaching both experienced
riders and beginners alike
using the classical methods, discipline, and of course, good humor. Being
only 5' tall, she trains her horses with the foremost goal of being that
the horse is both easy to ride and happy to work.
While in the southern California area she
has also worked with Kathleen Raine and Jo Moran.
