Laurie Falvo Dressage
Laurie Falvo Biography
Horses entered my life when I was only six years old. I rode western like a lot of the children in California. At age 8, however, I was introduced to dressage perhaps because I was very good at following instruction. So began a 22 year journey with the legendary Hilda Gurney who continues to be a National piliar of Dressage. With those years came opportunities for clinics with international talent. Among them are Bengt Lundquist, Harry Bolt, Franz Rochowanski, Robert Dover, Guenter Seidel, and Steffan Peters.
As a professional, I have trained more than 25 horses and clients to Grand Prix level, all of them so different in so many ways. Seven of the horses were my own. I have developed 5 young riders to compete in NAYRC, each on their separate journey.
After 34 years, I am a retired USDF “R” Dressage Judge. Being involved in judging has helped me see training from a judge’s point of view and judging from a trainer’s point of view. Years of experience have given me insights into the knowledge of the balance of both.
Currently, I am focused on teaching and training. Each horse and rider comes in with unique challenges and gets a customized training program. The goal of our program is to gymnasthisize the horse and educate the rider in the process. This can be the most helpful way to achieving their fullest potential.
